As a Black Man, do you feel like you are carrying the weight of the world and you can’t express it? Do you feel the pressure of the expectations that society has placed on you? Do you feel the heaviness of the expectation of having to stay strong when you want to break down, yell, scream just to be heard? Underneath all the heaviness is stress, anxiety, anger, and other unresolved emotions that impact how you see the world, how you interact with the ones you love, and how you care for yourself. Your struggles are real and they deserve to be validated.
Even though the world and even those around you make you feel that you are unbreakable, they don’t see, or sometimes, don’t want to see you at your lowest most vulnerable moments.
You don’t have to go through those moments alone.
This group of online support for black men offers a you a safe space, a tribe who shares the same fears and concerns you do and have decided they don’t deserve to stuff their feelings away. They have decided they want and need to be vulnerable. They also want to find solutions to the challenges of disconnection, miscommunication, dealing with anxiety, and being able to open up about their challenges without shame.
How Group Support Can Help You… Black Man
Breaking the Stigma Around Mental Health. In many communities, mental health is still a taboo topic, especially for Black men. There can be stigma or fear around seeking help or even admitting that you’re struggling. Group support helps break down these walls by normalizing conversations about mental health. You’ll see that you’re not alone in facing anxiety, stress, or depression, and you’ll gain the confidence to seek the help and healing you deserve.
Building Brotherhood and Trust. One of the most powerful aspects of group support is the sense of brotherhood that forms. You’ll be in a space with men who understand your unique struggles and are there to support you, not judge you. This sense of trust and camaraderie can make it easier to talk about what’s really going on in your life—whether it’s family pressures, relationship issues, or the stress of balancing work and personal responsibilities. Group support helps foster a community where you can grow, heal, and thrive together.
5. Navigating Identity and Expectations Many Black men struggle with the tension between who they truly are and who society expects them to be. Whether it’s dealing with stereotypes or internal conflicts about identity, these issues can be difficult to talk about. In group support, you’ll have the opportunity to explore these topics in a safe, supportive environment, helping you define who you are on your own terms.
The Unrealistic Expectation to be Strong. Do you have the echos from your childhood of someone saying that showing your emotions is “weak?” Day after day you feel the pressure to be an efficient aond constant provider and protector but you feel exposed and overwhelmed. Group therapy is a very unique space and oppportunity for you to be open and honest about your feelings. You can give yourself permission to be yourself, to share what you are dealing with, your struggles, while having the protection, structure, and support of your group.
Coping with Racial Trauma and Systemic Injustice. Do you feel bombarded with the suffocating reality of racism, being stereotyped, and always feeling like black men are constantly reminded of the imbalance of the system? This has a profound on your mental health, your mood, and how you view yourself. You being faced with these issues can leave you feeling angry, frustrated, and may even to keep it all bottled up inside. The group is your space to connect with other black men having very similar feelings and experiences; it’s where you can explore the impact of today’s social and racial climate while you find healthy ways to cope and validate each other’s experience and emotional reponse.

-
You can gain a sense of relief from hearing that others struggle with similar issues. It lessens feelings of loneliness and isolation. Often people feel that they are the only person they know with anxiety, not feeling good enough, depression, relationship issues, grief, etc., but it’s simply not true.
-
If, for example, you talk about a fight you had with your partner, group members can see things that you don’t. Hearing from other people about how you come across can be very powerful. You will receive a range of perspectives on your situation that can help you address your issue differently than you would have before.
-
Hearing how other members successfully confronted a family member, upheld a boundary, or successfully used a coping skill can be very encouraging. You may feel motivated to push yourself when you see that others have had success in the same area.
-
Some people believe that group therapy is less effective because it costs less, but that is a myth. Participating in the right group at the right time can be incredibly powerful. Some believe group therapy is more beneficial than individual therapy.
-
Every person in the group holds up a mirror and you get to see yourself through their eyes. They can gently point out your blind spots that are preventing you from addressing your presenting problems.
-
All of the groups offered are offered online. This option would be beneficial to parents that can't find or afford additional childcare, those not close enough to attend in person, working professionals that need more flexibility, or those more comfortable attending group from home. Online Group therapy has its limits but for the right person can be just as effective as in-person therapy.
